Numbers 13 & 14
This powerful story in the Bible demands we acknowledge all the parallels between the journey of the Israelites and our own life’s journey.
You are standing at the edge of your Promised Land. What will you learn from the Israelites?
-Perception is what you see…
-Perspective is what you think you see.
If we adopt a Godly perspective…everything we perceive (see/experience) will lead us to our promised land.
“Each of you must respect his mother and father… I am the LORD your God.” -Leviticus 19:3
Respect is having esteem for…
To attribute a sense of worth or excellence to a person…
To consider them as having innate qualities…
To consider them as having value to you personally.
We’ve all got good reasons to miss church on Sundays, and even better ones to not be the church throughout the week.
Connecting to the Body isn’t easy, it may not be natural, BUT it is possible AND it is worth it!
Connection is a bi-product of quality time and is sparked by intentionality!
Hearing God is never mechanical:
“You’ve got to be near God to hear God.” Pastor Jason
-Over-simplistic methods for hearing God’s voice.
-Formulaic prayers “God is good, God is great; let us thank him for this food.”
-Going to God only for answers
-Practice an ongoing conversation
-Treasure the opportunity to walk
and talk with God.
God is always speaking but He’s not a blabbermouth:
Listen for God’s voice in:
Give God your attention- Dial back on the noise of life-
-Through a quiet thought life
-Through times of quietude…and solitude.
-Through godly counsel from trusted
God often speaks without talking:
- His thoughts always align with Scripture
- He speaks through people we encounter
- He speaks through visions, dreams,
angels & mystical experiences
